Should you cut the carbs?

Are you thinking about cutting out a food group from your diet? 🤔 (such as carbohydrates as a whole, lactose, gluten...)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 
If you are then stop and think for a minute first!
- The reason people cut a whole food group such as carbohydrates from their diets in pursuit of weight loss and have success with it, is because they are consuming less calories as a result of cutting that food group. They don’t usually replace those calories with anything else. Wouldn’t you rather just reduce your calories slightly by other means such as portion control and still enjoy a wider range of your favourite foods such as bread, oats, milk etc?
Which method do you think is going to be more sustainable? Cutting out your favourite foods or moderately reducing calories by eating everything in moderation?

- Cutting out an entire food group such as carbohydrates can also leave you feeling pretty shabby. Your gym performance would suffer big time, you might actually feel a bit crap about the way you look as your muscles won’t look as ‘full’ 💪🏻🍑 on low/no carbohydrate...
Your energy levels in general will also suffer at first as your body will take its time to start using other macronutrients as its main fuel source, so brain performance and general ability to function optimally will also suck for the first few weeks at least. 😴
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 
- Cutting out lactose can also be pretty depressing. Unless you have a genuine intolerance or other digestive issues it’s just not worth it! You’re missing out on some great protein sources for one such as Greek yogurt & cottage cheese. For me these are a massive help with hitting my protein goals especially when on the go as they don’t need to be cooked/prepared! They also taste great and things like yogurt are a great substitute for other sweet foods to help satisfy your sweet tooth! 🍬

So think twice before remove an entire food group or food source from your diet, as it may actually be more detrimental than beneficial!
